7. Openings (shapes within shapes) When a shape is placed against or superimposed on any other shape, they together create their own peculiar, individualistic patterns. When these shapes morph into forms (which enclose space), and the superimposed shape is cut upon the larger, basic form, the equation changes; more dynamic interactions take place and the cut-outs take on the role of openings or entrances. Openings define forms, they animate the dead masses: lend character to the spaces that they give access to. |
